About

Established in 1954, the European Sanitaryware Producers Federation (FECS) promotes the interests of the ceramic sanitaryware industry in Europe. Today, FECS represents seven national trade associations and ten companies from 15 countries in the European Union, Turkey and Switzerland. FECS directly employs approximately 22,000 people and has an annual turnover of € 4.5 billion.

FECS highlights the benefits of ceramic sanitaryware appliances. Ceramic is the hygienic material par excellence which has been traditionally used in bathroom over the centuries thanks to its durable surface glaze that prevents the absorption of water and the proliferation of humidity and bacteria. Its precise formula made of minerals such as clay, kaolin, feldspar and quartz result in an incredible consistency that confirms its durability over time. Moreover, the exclusive ceramic finish ensures resistance against abrasive cleaning products, high temperatures and ultra violet light, whilst maintaining its original shine delivering a high performance at all times.

The European sanitaryware industry also actively contributes to resource efficiency and circular economy. Clay is a widely and endless available raw material. Ceramic sanitaryware products are resource efficient and stand out their high durability thanks to a long lifespan, which is of critical importance for the environment. The industry is also developing processes to reduce the use or primary raw materials, decrease pollutants released in the environment and recycle products.
